PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers have just wrapped up a 3-9 2023 season, the worst record this program has posted since 1998 but whatever changes head coach Pat Narduzzi might enact this offseason will be kept under wraps for now.

When asked if, with the season over and the offseason set to kick off in earnest with the opening of the transfer portal next weekend, he would consider making quick changes to the Pitt coaching staff over the next week, Narduzzi said he still has evaluations to complete before decisions are made.

“No, we’ll digest this, watch the videotape," Narduzzi responded. "Evaluation goes on year-long. Every game, every Saturday, every Sunday, every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday Friday. We'll just evaluate what we can do to get better. Again, it starts with me and our coaches, period.”

Offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti, who's led the Pitt offense as their scoring output declined from a school record 41.4 points per game in 2021 with Mark Whipple calling the plays to 31.3 points per game in his first year in this position to 20.2 this season, has been one of biggest names Pitt fans have called for to be let go. As the quarterbacks coach, Cignetti much of the blame for Pitt's rotating quarterback situation has fallen upon him as well.

Offensive line coach Dave Borbley has also taken some heat as his experienced unit crumbled in the face of injuries and depth issues. Running backs coach and special teams coordinator Andre Powell has as well, with the Pitt run game and punting game struggling mightily in 2023.

It's logical to expect some coaching changes after a 3-9 season, the worst of Narduzzi's tenure as head coach, but the leader of Pitt's program is putting those decisions off for at least one afternoon.
