PITTSBURGH -- More preseason accolades continue to roll in for Calijah Kancey, a stud interior defensive lineman for the Pitt Panthers. The Sporting News, one of five outlets that helps determine college football's consensus All-Americans, put Kancey on their second team defense, anticipating another outstanding season from one of the leaders along Pitt's excellent defensive line.

Kancey joins a group of defenders that primarily come from national powerhouses. Clemson’s Myles Murphy, Florida’s Gervon Dexter and LSU’s BJ Ojulari make up the rest of the second team's front four.

Kancey, who has already earned All-American honors from Athlon Sports as a first-team defender and the Walter Camp Football Foundation as a second-team lineman. Athlon also named Kancey to their All-ACC first team.

Kancey was a first-team All-ACC and third-team All-American honoree a season ago after he racked up 35 total tackles, 13 for loss and seven sacks. He anchored a Pitt defensive line that was among national leaders in sacks per game and is expected to do the same again during his junior season.
