PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers are have filled out their 2023 roster this week by adding a walk-on guard just ahead of the expected start of preseason practices.

Jajuan Nelson is now a Panther, according to a report from George Michalowski of Pittsburgh Sports Now. The 6'7 forward comes to Pitt by way of the String Theory Charter School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Head coach Jeff Capel's squad now has a full roster of 15 players - 11 scholarship players and four walk-ons - after the departure of former five-star recruit Dior Johnson.

As a senior at String Theory, Nelson averaged 15.2 points and 8.8 rebounds per contest.

The Panthers will open the 2023-24 season in an unofficial capacity with an exhibition against Pitt-Johnstown at the Petersen Events Center on the first day of November. Five days later, they'll play their first regular season game against North Carolina A&T. Tip-off times and television designation have yet to be determined.
