PITTSBURGH -- The last time the Pitt Panthers played at Acrisure Stadium, they were booed by their home fans throughout a 27-21 loss to the Cincinnati Bearcats.

And after a brutal and embarrassing loss to West Virginia on the road this past week, the Panthers - particularly starting quarterback Phil Jurkovec and the offense, which managed just six points and three turnovers against the Mountaineers - can expect some more to be hurled their way when they return home this weekend. But Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi said he doesn't think they will register with his players.

"I think they were booing me, just so we're on the same page. Did they say boo, Phil, or boo, Coach?" Narduzzi said. "Like there was boos, so I don't know who they were at. At least from what I hear, because I don't hear those things with my headphones on, and I'm not sure our kids really do, either."

Jurkovec and company took their fair share of boos down in Morgantown, but the jeers carry an extra sting when they come from your own fans as Jurkovec, who certainly did hear fans booing during the Panthers' loss to Cincinnati, knows full well.

Still, Narduzzi has accepted that he has no control over what fans yell or don't yell during a game and doesn't believe it will affect his players when they host North Carolina in the 2023 ACC opener.

"We're in Boo City," Narduzzi said. "Boo City, PA. But again, I think we talked about that a week ago or two weeks ago. I don't know when it was. But hey, it is what it is. If that's what they want to do, that's great. Should not affect us or our psyche."
