PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers had been muddling through and ugly and unproductive start against No. 14 Louisville until their new starting quarterback uncorked perhaps the best pass of his young career.

Trailing 7-0 and still seeking his first completion of the game, Christian Veilleux hit Bub Means in stride 46 yards downfield for a  touchdown that pulled Pitt even with the Cardinals with 2:37 left in the first quarter.

Prior to that play, Pitt had gained zero net yards of offense. Before the drive began, they had only lost yards on their two possessions. Veilleux had been 0-5 and the game looked like it would take an ugly turn quickly.

But the long touchdown pass ignited the crowd at Acrisure Stadium that braved the elements to see their Panthers and put the Cardinals back on their heels as they sought to defend an undefeated record.

For Means, it's just his second catch in as many games but the two receptions have gone for 121 yards and two scores.
