PITTSBURGH -- Erick Hallett is no longer a Pitt Panther. After signing on the dotted line to officially begin his career in the NFL, Hallett is now a different kind of big cat.

Hallett, who has been a steady presence in the back end of Pitt's defense for more than two years, is a Jacksonville Jaguar after inking his rookie deal this week. As the 208th pick in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, his contract is worth $3,994,212 over four years with a $154,212 signing bonus. He will count as a $789,846 cap hit this coming season.

Hallett earned All-ACC consideration twice as an honorable mention in 2021 and a second-teamer in 2022. In 2021, he earned ACC Championship Game MVP Honors after intercepting Sam Hartman twice and returning one for a touchdown in Pitt's 45-21 win over Wake Forest. In 2022, Hallett was named a second-team All-American by the Football Writers Association of America and a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, given annually to the best safety in college football.

In 49 career games, Hallett amassed 170 total tackles, eight interceptions, 32 passes defended, four forced fumbles and four recovered fumbles.
