PITTSBURGH -- B.J. Williams' exclusion from the Pitt Panthers' travel roster for the Backyard Brawl initially raised some eyebrows, but Pat Narduzzi confirmed pregame reports that the had suffered an injury earlier in the week that left him unable to play.

"He got hurt this week during practice," Narduzzi said. "He'll be back next week, I'm sure."

While the nature and severity of Williams' injury is unknown at this point, Narduzzi's confidence in an imminent return for the true freshman is a positive sign.

Williams earned positive reviews from Narduzzi as well as fellow offensive lineman Matt Goncalves following his first collegiate start in last week's loss to Cincinnati. He has established himself as a key piece on the Panthers' offensive line and figures to remain in the mix as a starting option moving forward as long as he is healthy.
