Jaguars Release Former Pitt RB
PITTSBURGH -- The Jacksonville Jaguars picked up a pair of former Pitt Panthers this offseason through the draft and free agency but released one of them as the roster cut deadline nears.
Jacksonville signed former Pitt running back Qadree Ollison to a reserve/futures contract in February but released him this week as they work to cut a 90-man roster down to just 53 players. He had appeared in all three preseason games this summer, recording one catch for 21 yards and a touchdown while also contributing on special teams.
Ollison was a fifth-round pick of the Falcons in 2019 and spent each of his first four seasons with them. He was cut in 2022 and spent some time with the Dallas Cowboys on their practice squad and limited games on the active roster before being cut again. Ollison appeared in 22 games over his career so far and has 44 carries for 158 yards and five touchdowns to his name.
During his career at Pitt, Ollison helped power the dominant rushing attack that carried the Panthers to their first ACC Championship appearance in 2018. He was also the 2015 ACC Rookie of the Year, after he rushed for more than 1,100 yards and 11 touchdowns while James Conner was out with a season-ending ACL injury. Ollison rushed for 2,859 yards and 29 scores as a Panther.
