PITTSBURGH -- Former Pitt Panthers offensive lineman Jimmy Morrissey didn't need to look around the league for another home after the Houston Texans cut him this week.

Morrissey, who has spent the past two seasons on the Texans practice squad, will be back for a third in 2023 after they brought him back following this week's cuts.

The addition of former Steelers offensive lineman Kendrick Green, who the Texans traded for hours before announcing they had cut Morrissey, likely pushed the former Panther out of his spot on the 53-man roster. But he'll have yet another chance to prove himself to the Texans coaching staff.

Morrissey, a former walk-on and first-team All-ACC selection at Pitt, was drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL Draft and then signed to the practice squad after being released in the final round of roster cuts. Morrissey then went on to spend two seasons with the Texans working his way up to the active roster in 2021 and 2022.
