PITTSBURGH -- Former Pitt Panthers and USC receiver Jordan Addison was clocked driving 140 mph on I-94 in Minnesota

According to the citation, Addison, who played two seasons at Pitt before transferring out west, told police that there was an emergency with his dog at home and that was his reason for speeding.

The incident report confirmed that Addison was pulled over by State Highway Patrol just after 3:00 am on Thursday morning on I-94 in St. Paul. He was headed eastbound, traveling 85 mph over the speed limit. Addison was issued a citation and the investigation remains open.

Addison has since issued an apology, saying, "I made a mistake and used poor judgment, I recognize and own that. I am going to learn from this and not repeat the behavior. I am truly sorry."

The Vikings released a statement Thursday afternoon after the incident report was made public.

"We are aware of last night's traffic incident involving Jordan Addison and are gathering additional information."

Addison capped his time with the Panthers with a masterful 2021, Biletnikoff Award-winning campaign in 2021. Combining with Heisman Finalist quarterback Kenny Pickett, he hauled in 100 passes for 1,593 yards and 17 touchdowns. He transfered to USC following his record-breaking season and accounted for 908 total yards and eight total touchdowns with the Trojans.

He was selected in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft as the 23rd overall pick by the Minnesota Vikings this past April.
