PITTSBURGH -- Former Pitt Panthers quarterback Kedon Slovis, not necessarily known for his legs, made headlines at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, Indiana for some impressive and surprising times in the 40-yard dash.

Only four quarterbacks ran in the 40-yard dash and Slovis, a starter at Pitt for one season, was by far the best of the bunch. He logged a best time of 4.55 seconds, a quarter of a second faster than the second-best quarterback run.

Slovis' time ranked 65th out if the 321 players who attended the NFL Combine this year. He's not expected to be one of the top quarterbacks taken in a draft loaded at that position but perhaps strong testing numbers will give his stock a boost.

Slovis completed 58.4% of his passes for 2,397 yards, 10 touchdowns and nine interceptions during the 2022 season at Pitt after transferring from USC. His strong performances against West Virginia, Miami and Tennessee (for a half before exiting with an injury) were overshadowed by a rough October during which he surpassed 250 yards just once and threw four interceptions to just three touchdowns in four games.

Slovis spent his final collegiate season at BYU, where he completed 57.5% of his passes for 1,716 yards, 12 touchdowns and six interceptions over eight games.

He has 148 career rushes for -259 yards - the vast majority of which came on sacks - to his name but did log three rushing scores for the Cougars in 2023 and there could be more coming his way should he make an NFL roster.
