PITTSBURGH -- In his first game without Matt Canada coordinating the offense and calling the plays, former Pitt Panthers quarterback Kenny Pickett played one of the best games of his young career with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Pickett, the Steelers' 2022 first-round pick coming out of Pitt, threw for a season-high 278 yards - the second-most of any single game in his career - while completing 72.7% of his passes - tied for the second-highest mark of any game in his career - without committing any turnovers.

Pickett was especially sharp on third downs, a major key to victory. He completed 10 of 14 passes on third down for 165 yards and eight first down conversions. Of the 22 first downs the Steelers gained against the Bengals, 15 of them came by way of Pickett's arm.

His season-best day helped lift the Steelers to a crucial, 16-10 win on the road over a divisional rival. They improved to 7-4, the second-best record in the AFC North prior to the Browns' game against the Broncos later in the day and rebounded from an ugly loss to that same Cleveland team from last week.
