PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers have hit the ground running this offseason as they landed another defender through the transfer portal in former Clemson Tiger David Ojiegbe.

Ojiegbe announced his commitment on Twitter moments after Pitt defensive line coach Charlie Partridge Tweeted a celebratory gif.

Ojiegbe was a consensus four-star recruit out of high school who attended St. John's College High School in Washington, D.C. He received offers from the likes of Miami, Michigan, North Carolina, Penn State, Pitt, Tennessee and Washington before committing to Clemson.

Ojiegbe appeared in two games as a true freshman with the Tigers and did not record a stat through 11 snaps before ultimately redshirting. As a result, he carries four years of remaining eligibility.

The Panthers offered Ojiegbe shortly after he entered the portal and hosted him on an official visit this weekend where he officially announced his intentions to join the program.

Ojiegbe is in position to make an immediate impact for Pitt following the loss of Samuel Okunlola. Dayon Hayes is locked in as one of the Panthers' two starters at defensive end, but Ojiegbe should challenge the likes of Nate Temple and Bam Brima for snaps while raising the ceiling of the unit.
