PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers have lost a second linebacker to the transfer portal this week as the offseason shifts into high gear.

Aydin Henningham, a former three-star athlete recruit out of the class of 2020, announced this week on Twitter that he would leave Pitt and enter the transfer portal.

Henningham, a 6'2 and 225-pound linebacker from Delray Beach, Florida out of Deerfield High School, appeared in just six games as a Panther, all of them coming in his freshman season, when he was limited to a special teams role.

He redshirted in 2021 and did not play in any games during the 2022 season after suffering an injury in the preseason.

The former top-100 recruit in the state of Florida per ESPN and Rivals will have two years of eligibility to use at his new school, wherever that may be.

The Panthers have a healthy group of young linebackers waiting behind Brandon George, who also opted to transfer this offseason, and Shayne Simon, who has exhausted his college eligibility. Starters Solomon DeShields and Bangally Kamara are eligible to return to Pitt and Kyle Louis, Braylan Lovelace and Jordan Bass, who all took some reserve snaps as freshmen, are expected to return as well.
