PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers have stepped up their recruiting efforts on a former Ole Miss offensive lineman this week, extending an offer during a visit to his home.

While in Houston, Texas to pay a visit to former Rebels guard Cedric Melton, newly-minted Pitt offensive coordinator Kade Bell was extended just the second of two Power 5 offers Melton has picked up since entering the transfer portal.

According to The Portal Report, Baylor, Indiana, and Syracuse are also interested in landing Melton, a 6'5 and 300-pound redshirt junior who appeared in 16 games both as a left guard and special teams. He started three games at left guard in 2021. UTSA and Houston have extended offers as well.

Bell was hired just a few days ago but is already hot on the recruiting trail. Prior to the official announcement of Bell's hire, the Panthers extended an offer to the Catamounts' leading receiver from this past season, C.J. Lee and they are reportedly hosting the leading rusher, Desmond Reid this week.
