PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers are undergoing some heavy turnover this offseason after losing so many key starters to the NFL and graduation following their victory over No. 18 UCLA in the 2022 Sun Bowl.

But for all they have lost, the Panthers are still in a strong position to keep the momentum built over the past two seasons going in 2023, according to Pro Football Focus, who ranked them No. 25 in their preseason ELO rankings.

Pitt is one of just three ACC teams to have cracked PFF's top 25, with No. 6 Clemson and No. 14 Florida State leading the way. They also ranked the Panthers No. 3 in their ACC power rankings behind the Tigers and Seminoles again.

The Panthers lost their leading passer, rusher, receiver and tackler along with the ACC Defensive Player of the Year and both their starting safeties, but with some high-profile transfers added to the mix and key veterans like Rodney Hammond, Konata Mumpfield, Bub Means, Marquis Williams, Jake Kradel, M.J. Devonshire, David Green, Devin Danielson, Shayne Simon, Bangally Kamara, Dayon Hayes and more returning, there is still optimism they won't miss a beat.
