PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers will be short a few big names for the 2023 edition of the Blue-Gold game. Six scholarship players are inactive for the spring game, most importantly some key members of the defensive line and pass-catching corps.

Junior tight end Gavin Bartholomew headline the list of inactives. Bartholomew's absence will allow the Panthers to get a look at some of their reserve tight ends, including 2023 Ed Conway award winner Karter Johnson, as well as Jake Renda.

Two key defensive linemen - Tyler Bently and David Green will also be absent. That will Pitt to test their depth along the interior of the defensive line. Expect Elliot Donald, Sean FitzSimmons and Isaiah Neal to see some more snaps with those pair of veterans out.

Floria transfer Daekon Reynolds, expected to compete for a starting spot at wide receiver, was not dressed either. Linebackers Kyle Louis and Aidyn Henningham were also out.
