PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers missed out on / landed one of the best local prospects in Western Pennsylvania's class of 2025 this week.

Four-star Pittsburgh native Alier Maluk made his college commitment decision this week, announcing that he had picked Florida State over Ohio State, Pitt, LSU and Oregon, which made up the remainder of a top five he released two weeks ago.

Maluk is one of the best prospects in the state of Pennsylvania and the country for the class of 2025. He is unanimously considered a four-star prospect and top-100 player in the class by the four major recruiting services. He is ranked as high as the No. 2 player in the state and No. 7 center (247Sports, ESPN) in his class.

He held other offers from West Virginia, NC State, Seton Hall, Texas A&M, Aurbun, Penn State, Vanderbilt, Maryland and Washington.

Maluk took just one official visit during his recruitment to Florida State but has spent time on campus at Pitt as well.
