PITTSBURGH -- The start of the 2023-24 college basketball season is just around the corner and the Pitt Panthers are not favored to replicate their success from last season.

Pitt has just the eighth-best odds to win the ACC, according to Betonline.ag, not far off from their position at ninth in the preseason media poll. Duke, Miami, North Carolina, Virginia, Clemson, Virginia Tech and Syracuse all have better odds than the Panthers' 1/35 chances.

The Panthers lost four of their top five scorers from an NCAA Tournament team a year ago, the program's first postseason berth in seven years. They added some talented transfers in Zack Austin and Ishmael Leggett, plus a top-20 recruiting class, but the extreme roster turnover makes them an unsure bet.

Pitt finished in a tie for third in the ACC standings last year but dropped to the fifth seed in the conference tournament after tiebreakers. They beat Georgia Tech in the second round but were bounced by Duke, the eventual champion, the following day.
