Pitt PG Steals Show With Highlight Reel Play
PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers are looking to overcome a poor start against South Carolina State, and improve their record to 8-3. And in the midst of a second-half battle, point guard Ishmael Leggett stole the show with a highlight reel finish off of a steal.
Leggett grabbed a tipped pass, bouncing off players' hands near the paint. After securing the steal, SC State had him covered near the three-point line, where he was able to spin away and create a lane to the basket for the finish.
At the time of the play, Leggett had 11 points, five rebounds and five assists as the Panthers carried a 41-29 lead over SC State. His efforts put him on pace for a triple-double at the beginning of the second half.
The transfer from Rhode Island is averaging 14.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.3 steals per game this season.
