PITTSBURGH -- Former Pitt Panthers forward Mouhamadou Gueye will have to find a new home in the NBA after he got some bad news this week.

With the start of the regular just around the corner, the former Pitt standout, Gueye, has been waived by the Toronto Raptors after spending the summer up north in Canada.

Gueye signed with the Raptors in August and spent all of the preseason with that organization. In three preseason games, Gueye 4.7 points and 3.7 rebounds over 10.7 minutes per appearance while making 67% of his field goals.

Gueye has spent most of his time his time after Pitt in the G League. He's played for the Texas Legends, an affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks. He averaged nine points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game while making 55.9% of his field goals over 11 appearances last season.

At the 2023 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, Nevada, Gueye appeared in all five games, starting three for the Raptors. He averaged 7.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and one block per game while making 44.8% of his field goals.

He enjoyed a decorated two-year career at Stony Brook, where he earned a reputation as an all-league defender. At Pitt, Gueye added a diverse offensive game to his defensive pedigree, averaging 9.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per night while knocking down 36% of his 3-point shots over a career-high 29 minutes per game.
