PITTSBURGH -- A special guest was in attendance to watch the Pitt Panthers take on Georgia Tech at the Petersen Events Center. Former Pitt defensive back and McKees Rocks native Damar Hamlin, currently a member of the Buffalo Bills, sat courtside with his family and his media representation, Jordan Rooney, as the Panthers and Yellow Jackets clashed.

Hamlin is making the rounds after taking significant steps forward in his recovery from cardiac arrest, which he went into during the Bills-Bengals Monday Night Football game back in January. Hamlin attended the Bills' first playoff game in Buffalo last month, has appeared in interviews on national television and attended the Super Bowl in Glendale, Arizona as well. This is his first live appearance back in Pittsburgh, his hometown.

A video tribute to Hamlin ran during the second media timeout of the game. Hamlin received a standing ovation from the crowd at the Petersen Events Center.
