PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers are one of the programs sticking closest to 2025 guard Derek Dixon and his recruitment to Pitt will take another step this weekend.

Pitt will host Dixon, a four-star prospect out of powerhouse Gonzaga High Scholl in Washington, D.C., for an unofficial visit this weekend, according to a report from Houston Wilson of Rivals.

Jeff Capel and the Panthers were among the first to extend an offer to Dixon when he visited campus last October. Pitt contacted Dixon again in June after the recruiting dead period had ended. The Cavaliers, Hokies and Friars have also reached out with offers. So have Villanova, Syracuse, Maryland, Penn State, Xavier, St. Joseph's, Fordham, Kansas State, George Mason, Norfolk State, Providence, Miami, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Miami, Mississippi State, East Carolina, Bryant and others.

Dixon is unanimously considered a four-star prospect and On3, 247Sports and Rivals all consider him the No. 2 player in Washington, D.C. He's ranked as high as the No. 4 combo guard and No. 82 overall prospect in the class of 2025 (On3). Both Rivals and 247Sports also consider him a top-100 player in the class.
