PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers have struck back in a recruiting battle with UCF that saw the Knights snatch two verbal commits away. After wide receiver and Ric'Darius Farmer and defensive back Chasen Johnson opted out of Pitt's latest recruiting class, a defensive lineman filled one of the gaps.

Four-star prospect Sincere Edwards has ended a lengthy recruitment by announcing that he has committed to Pitt over the likes of UCF, South Florida, Maryland and Penn State - all of which made his top five earlier this summer.

Edwards, a 6'4 and 240-pound defender from Apopka, Florida, is considered a four-star prospect by Rivals and three-star player by On3, 247Sports and ESPN. He's ranked as high as the No. 47 player in the Sunshine State and No. 19 defensive lineman.

Edwards visited Pitt unofficially in April and almost immediately scheduled a trip back to Pittsburgh for his official visit in June. He committed to UCF last summer but rethought his decision this year.

As a junior at Wekiva High School, Edwards recorded 78 tackles (48 solo), 27 tackles for loss, 16 sacks and recovered two fumbles.
