PITTSBURGH -- Four-star 2023 combo guard Carlton Carrington entered the 2022 Peach Jam tournament on a high note. He had just been named the Breakout Player of another Nike Elite Youth Basketball League session in Kansas City and was poised to lead Team Melo into the biggest AAU event of the year. But in their opening game against Brad Beal Elite on Sunday, the Pitt Panthers pledge, Carrington struggled as his team lost 63-53.

Carrington, who committed to Pitt in June, turned in a pedestrian shooting night. He tallied just seven points despite taking a team-high 13 attempts from the floor, including a 1-4 mark from 3-point distance. He also committed five turnovers to just three assists. He added seven rebounds, a block and two steals.

Team Melo and Carrington are back in action less than 24 hours removed from the loss. They will take on Mac Irvin Fire, who topped Uplay Canada 52-46 in their first game of the week, at 11:30 a.m. The EYBL live streams each game and fans can watch them on the organization's website or on Twitch. Carrington and Team Melo will be on court one.
