PITTSBURGH -- One of the best wide receiver prospects in the country and 247Sports' second-best player in the state of Pennsylvania has moved up his commitment date. Rodney Gallagher, a Pittsburgh Panthers target in the class of 2023, originally said he would commit on July 4, but instead will announce his college decision on May 25th at 3 p.m. in the gym at Laurel Highlands High School.

Gallagher is also an outstanding basketball player and had offers to play on the hardwood and gridiron for multiple Power Five schools. He has since said that he will focus on football in college. He is a top-100 player in his class

Gallagher, who received 22 offers in total, revealed a set of his top eight schools last month. The list included Pitt, Texas, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, West Virginia, Oregon, Penn State and Oklahoma State. Two members of 247Sports' staff have predicted that Gallagher will choose the Mountaineers.

He took an unofficial visit to Pitt in April and the Panthers' defensive backs coach Corey Sanders took a trip to see him at his high school last month as well.

The Panthers currently have two commitments from players in the class of 2023. Four-star quarterback Kenny Minchey and three-star linebacker Zion Fowler were the first two players to join the class.
