PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers are patiently awaiting the commitment decision of four-star defensive back Koy Beasley. With Beasley set to announce this week, one national recruiting analyst likes Pitt's odds.

Tom VanHaaren ran through six of his company's top 300 prospects that plan to commit this month, including Beasley, the No. 146 player in ESPN's 2024 rankings. He predicted the Panthers will beat out Purdue and Wisconsin to earn Beasley's commitment. Rutgers was listed in his top four last week but appears out of the running now.

"Purdue got the last visit, which can sometimes make an impact, but Pitt has been a big part of the conversation as well," VanHarren wrote. "Defensive coordinator Randy Bates has played a major factor in his recruitment at Pitt and could ultimately be a big part of why he chooses the Panthers."

Beasley's third visit to Pittsburgh came during the first weekend of June. He had already taken trips to the Steel City last September and in late March. From there, he headed to Wisconsin the following weekend and Purdue the weekend after that. Beasley has been all around the country, taking official visits to Georgia, USC, Cincinnati, Kentucky, West Virginia and Notre Dame as well.

A consensus four-star prospect from Cincinnati, Ohio by way of La Salle High School, Beasley is ranked as high as the No. 4 player in Ohio and No. 3 athlete in the class of 2024. ESPN ranked him the No. 7 player in Ohio and No. 11 athlete in his class.
