PITTSBURGH -- Pitt Panthers of the past and future hit the field together this weekend. Before he stepped on campus for the first time as a student, Pitt signee Zion Fowler worked out with former Panther and current starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Kenny Pickett in both of their home state of New Jersey.

Fowler posted a video of the two throwing together. Pickett sported a Pitt pullover as he zipped a slant into Fowler, who secured the pass and ran upfield.

"That Pitt connection," Fowler captioned the video.

Fowler also posted pictures of he and Pickett on his Instagram.

Fowler, a three-star recruit from Jersey City, New Jersey and St. Peter's Prep High School, was one of four receivers to commit to the Panthers' 2023 recruiting class. 247Sports considers him the No. 18 player in New Jersey and No. 155 receiver overall in this class. He picked Pitt over the likes of Duke, Syracuse, Michigan State, Virginia Tech and Louisville.

While he was not one of the two freshmen wideouts to join the Panthers for spring practices this semester, he is one month from joining the team on campus for summer workouts and fall training camp after the semester ends in April.
