Where Does South Carolina Stand In D1Baseball.com's Postseason Projections?
The South Carolina Gamecocks had their first slip-up of the season this past weekend, when they dropped a three-game series in Founders Park to the Auburn Tigers, managing to salvage a comeback win in game three. Despite the fact South Carolina lost to an unranked middle-of-the-pack SEC team in Auburn, they didn't suffer a drop in some of the rankings that were released on Monday, including D1Baseball.com who kept them at No. 3.
It appears that South Carolina's overall body of work hasn't deterred all of the pollsters regarding their opinion of where the Gamecocks stand on the national stage. That's also carried over to postseason talk, as D1Baseball.com released their Field of 64 Postseason projections on Wednesday and had the Gamecocks slotted at the No. 4 overall national seed.
This time around, the projections have a bit more of a Palmetto state flare with Clemson, Wofford and Davidson being grouped in with the Gamecocks. This same projection has South Carolina's regional paired up with the Oklahoma State regional, which includes teams like Arizona State, UTSA and Oral Roberts.
As long as the Gamecocks don't fall apart over the final few weeks of the season, they should feel comfortable with where they currently stand in the national standings.
