South Carolina's women's basketball coach took some time to address the Gamecocks late-game skirmish in the SEC title game versus the LSU Tigers.

In one of several high-level conference championship games in women's college basketball on Sunday afternoon. Dawn Staley and the South Carolina Gamecocks knocked off the LSU Tigers for the second time this season, with this one bringing them some hardware. However, the win will largely be overshadowed by the scrum that took place with a little over two minutes left in the game, one that left Kamilla Cardoso being ejected for knocking down LSU wing Flau'jee Johnson and several bench players being ejected for entering the playing area.

Immediately after the game ended, Dawn Staley was interviewed by ESPN sideline reporter Brooke Weisbrod, who asked her about her thoughts regarding the entire game. A little ways into her answer, the Gamecocks head coach took a chance to address the fight that broke out in the fourth quarter between both teams.

"I just want to apologize to the basketball community. You know when you're playing a championship game like this in our league, things get heated. No bad intentions. Their emotions got so far ahead of them that sometimes these things happens. I want to apologize for us playing a part in that, because that's not who we are and that's not what we're about," Dawn lamented. "We're going to talk about it. We've always talked about it. Never leave the bench, you know. Never get too high with the highs or low with the lows. It's hard when you're playing. I played this game a long time and I can't tell you I was a Saint at all times. Ok? Your emotions get the best of you. It's unfortunate that the players that got ejected can't be a part of the celebration."
