Gamecock Forward Laeticia Amihere Declares For The WNBA Draft
It's been a busy last 96 hours for Dawn Staley and the South Carolina Gamecocks, who lost in shocking fashion in the Final Four to the Iowa Hawkeyes this past Friday. This loss has been followed up with some announcements and appreciation posts from a bevy of veterans on the squad, with Aliyah Boston announcing her entry into the WNBA Draft Pool on Saturday and Brea Beal announcing similar intentions on Tuesday morning.
One player that some fans speculated might have come back for next year was Laeticia Amihere, mainly due to the shared minutes with fifth year forward Victaria Saxton at the power forward spot this past season. On Tuesday afternoon, however, those speculations ended abruptly, as Amihere shared a heartfelt message to Gamecock nation on her social media pages, announcing that she too would be entering the WNBA Draft pool.
Amihere was a key cog off the bench for South Carolina over the past few seasons, and averaged a career high in points per game, free throw shooting percentage, assists, blocks and steals this past season.
