Lamont Paris Speaks On Moving Forward After Loss To LSU, Gives Update On Meechie Johnson
Lamont Paris was on Carolina Calls this evening on the local radio station 107.5 The Game, and he and the show host Derek Scott, South Carolina's play-by-play man for men's basketball, immediately talked about how coach Paris and the team have tried to move forward from last weeks losses to Auburn and LSU. The team has responded well per Coach Paris, who stated it could be problematic because, on the one hand, you have to wait a whole week to get the bad taste out of your mouth, but on the other, you have more time to practice and learn and study film.
As for the film, he stated that it usually takes about thirty minutes for each film study to try and figure out where things went wrong in a win or a loss and then move on. However, this previous film study took over ninety minutes to teach and learn from the last game. Lamont Paris again took responsibility in the film room, telling his guys he's got to be better at getting messages across in big-game moments.
In some positive news, Meechie Johnson, who had to leave the game against LSU after taking an elbow to the head, practiced today, and Coach Paris said the current plan is that Johnson will go full-court in tomorrow's practice and should be ready for the game. He elaborated that his ability to create space and get open was undoubtedly missed at the end of the game versus the Tigers in purple and gold.
