FINAL: No. 1 South Carolina Rout Missouri 83-45 Without Cardoso
South Carolina Women's team had a lot on their plate this evening in the battle against Missouri. They are without Kamilla Cardoso, who is joining her national team for the Olympic Qualifiers; also, before the game, it was announced that Sahyna Jah is out indefinitely, and there's a rather big game against UConn this weekend. While all this was going on, Coach Dawn Staley and the staff had a job to get everyone ready for the game against Missouri, and they did, winning big 83-45.
The game started slowly for the Gamecocks, starting 0-4 shooting and two early turnovers, but the Gamecocks would go on a 21-4 run, led by Milaysia Fulwiley, who quickly got 9 points for Carolina in the first quarter. In the second quarter, it was the Chole Kitts show. Having a career-high four blocks, she also had eight of her twelve points in that quarter and five rebounds. South Carolina would end the half on a 16-3, not allowing Missouri to score the final 3 minutes.
In the second half, the Gamecocks would put it in cruise control. Everyone that saw the floor had at least 4 points tonight with 4 in double figures, and everyone bought into the defensive fight tonight with 21 forced turnovers, 11 blocks, and holding Missouri to a season-low 45 points. Even with the absence of Cardoso, the Gamecocks didn't miss a beat and can now focus on the UConn Huskies in their top 15 matchup, which would be the 6th-ranked matchup this year.
