National CFB Writer Has Gamecocks Near Bottom Of Way-To-Early SEC Power Rankings
With the 2023 college football season wrapping up just ten days ago, it is never too early to start thinking about the upcoming season. A couple of way-too-early SEC rankings are beginning to come out from different media outlets, including one from 247Sports that national college football writer Brad Crawford did.
Based on Crawford's ranking, he seems to think South Carolina will have a tough time competing in this new-look SEC this coming Fall.
Brad Crawford's Way-Too-Early SEC Power Rankings
- Georgia
- Texas
- Ole Miss
- LSU
- Alabama
- Missouri
- Tennessee
- Oklahoma
- Kentucky
- Texas A&M
- Auburn
- Florida
- South Carolina
- Arkansas
- Mississippi State
- Vanderbilt
Shane Beamer and the staff have done a tremendous job in the portal this offseason, adding quality starters and depth pieces such as Raheim 'Rocket' Sanders, Robby Ashford, and Jared Brown, to name a few. The defense sees some key starters returning with the addition of key players from the portal, and while they could make giant leaps this season, there are still some questions surrounding the offense.
While I think the Gamecocks have a bit more hidden potential than some realize, it's hard to disagree with this early power ranking with the unknown questions, such as how they fill the voids left by Spencer Rattler and Xavier Legette. While there is talent, and the portal additions now provide some solid competition, there's still much to be answered during the spring and the summer months.
