South Carolina Makes Top 5 For 2025 TE Ethan Barbour
Shane Beamer and South Carolina's Football staff are in on a couple of talented 2025 tight end prospects, which is important because, over the next two years, the Gamecocks will lose their top tight ends as the roster currently stands in Trey Knox and Joshua Simon. Tight ends coach Jody Wright already has a great modern tight-end in Michael Smith coming in for the 2024 class, but it feels like he needs one piece in the 2025 class to maintain the high talent level of that position group.
Enter Ethan Barbour, a Gamecock legacy who, on numerous occasions, has made the short trip from Georgia to Columbia. South Carolina has remained in a good spot with the Alpharetta High School product, and those relationships helped them on Tuesday afternoon as Carolina made Barbour's Top 5.
Along with announcing his top five schools, Barbour also announced that he'd be committing on September 22nd, later this month. Based on his conversation with On3 National Recruiting Director Chad Simmons, I would imagine that the Georgia Bulldogs are the team to beat in the Ethan Barbour sweepstakes because Athens is only 55 miles away from home, Ethan's taken "more than a dozen visits" to Kirby Smart's program, and their recent history of developing tight ends.
Ethan is a 2025 prospect, so even if South Carolina doesn't land him less than three weeks from now, they should not give up on recruiting the Gamecock legacy, who acknowledged in his interview with Simmons that he has a lot of family in the area and likes what Beamer is doing with the program.
