LT Overton's Mother Reportedly Blown Away By Shane Beamer's Hospitality
When it comes to recruiting a high school athlete, there's a certain philosophy that has withstood the test of time: win over mom, and you win over the recruit. South Carolina's head football coach, Shane Beamer, has been a renowned recruiter throughout his career, and a big reason for that is his genuineness in how he interacts with everyone. Those traits might serve him well once again in the recruitment of a big-time defensive line transfer within the SEC.
In an article posted by 247Sports Director Of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong, he cited that former 2022 five-star defensive lineman and Texas A&M transfer, LT Overton, and his family were impressed by South Carolina during their visit. The Overton family's flight landed in the wee hours of Saturday morning this past weekend, and to their surprise, Beamer was there waiting.
“Great meeting with Beamer,” Overton’s mother Eunice Thomas told 247Sports. “He really impressed me. Our plane didn’t land till 12:04 in the morning and that man was at the airport. No head coach ever did that. He pushed family and cohesiveness and spiritual. He’s more the connection with his staff and where he’s been and where he’s coached aligns with LT. He let LT know they don’t have to figure out things when he gets there, he’s ready to fit in.”
Wiltfong's article also stated that Overton and his family will be in Tuscaloosa this weekend to check out the Alabama Crimson Tide, arguably the Gamecocks' biggest competition in this recruitment.
