Darius Rush Named "Sleeper" By NFL Draft Analyst
If any NFL hopeful has endured a college career with many bends and twists attached to it, it's South Carolina cornerback Darius Rush. After starting as a wide receiver in the 2018 recruiting class, Rush switched positions to corner before his redshirt sophomore campaign. In that season, his head coach Will Muschamp was fired, leading to Shane Beamer's arrival and defensive backs coach Torrian Gray.
Rush became a formidable No. 2 corner alongside first-round hopeful Cam Smith two years later. He displayed his potential at the Reese's Senior Bowl and is now considered a fast riser on NFL draft boards. One draft analyst who's part of this crowd is Pro Football Focus's Mike Renner, who named Darius Rush one of the biggest sleepers in this draft class on Thursday.
Rush's performance in Mobile might have played a huge part in his getting an invite to the NFL Scouting Combine, where his stock could once again rise if he puts up quality testing numbers.
