Five Former Gamecocks Receive NFL Draft Combine Invites
With the NFL Draft just two months away and the NFL season closing out this weekend with the Super Bowl, fans and analysts are nearly in full draft mode. As a bit of a precursor to the impending draft mania, the NFL sent out invites for the Draft Combine, and South Carolina will have plenty of participation in the event.
Five former Gamecocks, Cam Smith, Zacch Pickens, Jalen Brooks, Jovaughn Gwyn, and Darius Rush, have all received invites to the combine. South Carolina ranked sixth in the SEC for the number of prospects invited, tied with Ole Miss and Arkansas and trailing Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Florida, and Auburn.
The combine offers these five Gamecocks an excellent opportunity to showcase their talent, as a few of South Carolina's finest have already taken advantage of the Reese's Senior Bowl. South Carolina has made it a point to scout and develop athletes in addition to good football players. Considering much of the combine is about athleticism, these five former Gamecocks should be expected to thrive. The combine starts on February 28th and runs until March 6th.
