When it comes to life, there are a few guarantees: death, taxes, and the physical game of football leading to injuries. Every football team deals with the injury bug to varying degrees every fall; coaches just hope that any injuries that do take place aren't serious and don't pile up. Unfortunately for Shane Beamer and South Carolina, that's exactly what took place last weekend against North Carolina, as multiple offensive and defensive starters left the game due to injury.

At his weekly Carolina Calls radio appearance on Thursday evening, Shane Beamer provided another injury update on multiple Gamecocks, an update that was not fortuitous for South Carolina. Safety Nick Emmanwori, defensive end Jatius Geer, offensive linemen Markee Anderson and Cason Henry, and nickel corner David Spaulding were all ruled out for the Gamecocks matchup against Furman on Saturday night.

On the flip side of the coin, Juice Wells, and Ahmarean Brown both practiced all week this week, and should be good to go, per Shane Beamer. Linebacker Bam Martin-Scott and tight end Connor Cox will also be dressing out for the first time this season, with Bam in particular expected to play a lot of snaps in place of the injured Mohamed Kaba

It's not ideal, but the Gamecocks will be forced to thrust some younger players into action this weekend, particularly in the secondary, which against an experienced Furman Paladins squad could make for an interesting game.
