REPORT: Shane Beamer Listed On Mississippi State Hot Board For HC Position
Shane Beamer has bounced around to many places throughout his coaching career, especially in the SEC, having coached at Tennessee, Mississippi State, South Carolina, and Georgia. On Tuesday afternoon, one of his former stops officially fired their head coach, that being the Mississippi State Bulldogs relieving Zac Arnett just less than one year into his head-coaching stint in Starkville.
With Arnett's dismissal, hot boards of candidates are being released by the local media in the Magnolia State with boundless lists of several coaches, and one of them specifically included the Gamecocks head-man himself.
Now the immediate follow-up question South Carolina fans will be asking is this, is there legitimate interest from Beamer to the degree where he could actually leave for 'Stark-Vegas'. While he did coach there from 2004-06 and the family of his wife, Emily Beamer, is from the area, I personally don't forsee any scenario where this happens, as Mississippi State is behind South Carolina in many aspects when it comes to the infrastructure of their program, the talent they possess, and many other components. That doesn't even counter in the fact that the Bulldogs are likely about to undergo a mass player exodus and have to rebuild their roster in it's entirety.
This is simply Beamer's agent, Jimmy Sexton, doing his job of leaking Beamer's name out to other media members, trying to conjure up some kind of raise or extension from South Carolina Athletics Director Ray Tanner and the board of trustees. If Beamer doesn't have interest in the job, he'll likely put these reports to bed at his weekly press conference on Tuesday afternoon.
