South Carolina Football program was back at it on Tuesday with their first spring practice, and Shane Beamer spoke to the media afterward.

It's that time of year when football is getting back up and running for all college sports, and Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks had their first spring practice on Tuesday. In preparation for the spring game on April 20th, Coach Beamer said it was great getting back out on the field and seeing the progress made since January.

First of all, I want to give credit to our players and Luke Day and our strength and conditioning staff for the progress that our team has made since we came back in January... Weve gotten stronger and faster and bigger and it's a testament to the work we've put in in our offseason program.

Coach Beamer spoke about depth charts and for those trying to figure out who's on the first team or second team:

We don't have a depth chart right now guys. that's what i told the team right now. We may have 11 guys that went out there with a group today the next time y'all come back to practice and have an open period where you're able to watch stuff it will probably be different. We want to give everybody opportunities to work with different groups and told our team this morning I don't care what you did last season, I don't care what you did last year in your senior year in high school or if you were at a different school we are all starting fresh today and all have something to prove... Everyone's going to get an opportunity to compete.

Shane Beamer was also asked to speak on how the wide receiver's room was gelling with a lot of new faces as well:

There's a lot of new ones (faces) it really is, new coach, new players, freshman, transfers and doing well. they all had their moments today without a doubt but its a learning process because coach Furrey is getting in here trying to learn the offense and learn who he's coaching and what their about... It's an athletic group, they run well, they all catch the ball well and I'm really excited to see how that group develops over the next 14 practices and who separates themselves.
