The History Of Texas A&M Vs. South Carolina
This weekend's matchup against the Texas A&M Aggies and the South Carolina Gamecocks will be the 10th meeting between the two programs. Dating back to 2014, the first time these two programs met, the Aggies have managed to win eight of the nine meetings, with the lone outlier coming last season in Columbia, where the Gamecocks won 30-24.
In this short time, these games played in the earlier years were typically relatively close. Between 2015-2018 the average margin of victory for the Aggies was only seven. However, Texas A&M has averaged 34 points per game in this series since 2019, with their largest margin of victory being 45 points back in 2020 when head coach Will Muschamp still led the Gamecocks.
Carolina has averaged 18 points per game against the Aggies in this series. Under Shane Beamer, however, they've managed to average 22 points per game, largely due to the 30-point game they had last season in Columbia.
While this series hasn't favored Carolina most of the way, Shane Beamer and the program could start a streak for the Gamecocks if they can find a win in a tough environment in College Station. It will not be easy for South Carolina; however, crazier things have happened. Can the Gamecocks pull out an upset victory over Texas A&M and make it a second straight win in this series? Only time will tell, but it will all start with the defense, which has yet to hold Texas A&M to under 24 points at any point in the series' history.
