Spencer Rattler, Antwane "Juice" Wells Named To Maxwell Award Watchlist
As Fall camps are set to get underway across the College football landscape, we are beginning to see the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel known as talking season. Besides hearing rumblings of Fall camp standouts, the final stage of talking season mainly involves preseason award watchlists being released.
One of those watchlists mentioned above was released early Monday morning, the Maxwell Award Preseason Watchlist. The Maxwell Award is considered the most prestigious award in the sport, right behind the Heisman Trophy, as it's awarded annually to the most outstanding player in college football.
The South Carolina Gamecocks were well represented on this list, as quarterback Spencer Rattler and wide receiver Antwane "Juice" Wells were included.
Spencer Rattler and Juice Wells arguably had their best stretch of games at the end of the 2022 season, as over the last three games, Rattler completed 68.8 percent of his passes for 1,034 passing yards, ten touchdowns, and three interceptions. Conversely, Juice Wells racked up 25 receptions for 338 receiving yards and two touchdowns. While Spencer Rattler has garnered the majority of the nation spotlight, Wells, in particular, has already received multiple preseason nods as both an All-SEC and All-American type of player heading into what's likely his final season in Columbia.
