Spencer Rattler is coming into the 2023 season with a golden opportunity in front of him. After putting up outstanding performances against Tennessee and Clemson late in the 2022 regular season, Rattler is returning to Columbia for one last run with the Gamecocks, betting that he and his teammates can take another step forward on the field.

Everyone in the national media space will immediately point to Rattler and say he's the key to South Carolina realizing their full potential on the offensive side of the ball. While that might be true, Spencer can't do it alone. He'll need multiple teammates, both new and old, to step up around him and, thus, give him a chance to excel.

When at SEC Media Days on Thursday, Spencer Rattler was asked on multiple occasions which players could be ones to watch for the Gamecocks this Fall, and the 5th-year senior threw out some recognizable names, but also one that's largely flown under the radar.

"I mean you guys know about [Nyckoles] Harbor. Big, tall, fast, [and] can do it all, just working on the fundamentals with him," Rattler stated. "I think Elijah Caldwell [is] another young receiver that'll help us a lot this year. "Vet-wise, I feel like Xavier Legette's gonna have a standout year. He's had a great offseason. Ahmarean Brown's had a great offseason, [and is] another guy that might have a break out year."

Nyckoles Harbor was probably the least surprising name tossed out by Rattler, and the fans will be happy to hear that No. 7 has confidence that Xavier Legette and Ahmarean Brown can take another step, but Elijah Caldwell is a name that most fans might need help recalling from last year's class. This past Fall, Caldwell was a standout receiver for Northwestern Trojans in Rock Hill, SC, recording 57 receptions for 1,294 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns.

Elijah possesses a skillset that allows him to make an impact at three levels, which could lead to him making an early contribution in year one. Either way, it appears that Rattler has multiple weapons that fans will need to pay attention to when the Gamecocks take the field this Fall.
