BREAKING: South Carolina BOT Approves Contracts For Two Assistant Coaches
There's been a ton of movement recently with South Carolina's football coaching staff. It started with the parting of ways between the Gamecocks and RB coach Montario Hardesty. Then it was reported that a former coworker of Shane Beamer's, James Coley, was expected to join the staff in some capacity. In just the past 54 hours, TE coach Jody Wright left to take the head coaching job at Murray State, and former Texas A&M RB coach Marquel Blackwell was linked to the Gamecocks.
Today, we finally get some clarity on some of the moves. The University of South Carolina's Board of Trustees met this afternoon and officially approved a two-year contract for Coley, which will pay him $650,000 in 2024 and $850,000 in 2025, per David Cloninger of the Post & Courier. They also approved an extension and raise for edge rusher/outside linebackers coach Sterling Lucas, whose contract now runs through 2025 and is set to give him an annual salary of $575,000, this also according to Cloninger.
