Xavier Legette Named Midseason 2nd-Team All-American By Associated Press
Xavier Legette is having one of the best seasons a South Carolina wide receiver has had in recent memory. No Gamecock wide receiver has eclipsed the 1,000 receiving yard mark since 2014 when Pharoh Cooper recorded 1,136 yards, all on 69 receptions. Legette has already racked up 37 receptions, 716 receiving yards, and three receiving touchdowns, currently on pace to surpass Pharoh in the first two categories, as mentioned above.
Xavier's emergence as one of the best wide receivers in the SEC and all of college football has recently begun to garner national recognition, including props from those heavily involved in scouting NFL talent. On Wednesday, that continued with the Associated Press revealing their Midseason All-American teams, which listed Xavier Legette as a second-team selection.
Legette was essentially listed as the third-best wideout in the SEC behind LSU's Malik Nabers and Missouri's Luther Burden III, both named first-team midseason All-American selections by the Associated Press. Should Xavier continue to maintain his current pace, he could have a chance to leapfrog one or both of those star receivers by season's end.
