Zach Arnett Lauds Gamecocks' Home-field Environment, Spencer Rattler
It was announced on Monday afternoon that South Carolina's upcoming Football game against the Mississippi State Bulldogs would be taking place in front of a sold-out crowd in Williams-Brice Stadium, the home venue for the Gamecocks. Williams-Brice is renowned around the SEC for the overall crowd noise the fans can bring, especially in a night game, and the excitement levels are only elevated when they have a quarterback as electric as Spencer Rattler playing in garnet and black threads.
In his opening statement at his Monday press conference, Zach Arnett alluded to the Bulldogs' upcoming matchup with the Gamecocks and noted the reputation that Williams-Brice Stadium carries as one of the most dangerous road environments in the conference.
"We have a challenge this week going on the road for the first time this season, [and] playing at what is known to be one of the most energetic atmospheres, particularly at night, in all of college football - We'll get to play in an electric environment in front of a great crowd, [and] I think versus a football team that's very similar to us."
After those comments, Arnett didn't speak much about South Carolina until he was asked a question about Spencer Rattler at the end of his press conference. Zach went on to talk about how he got to see Rattler's talent firsthand when he was coaching in San Diego, CA, just one state west of Spencer's home state of Arizona.
"I probably saw him three years in a row when he was a high school quarterback in passing tournaments, and his team was in the championship game every year," Arnett recalled. "He can make every throw on the field. He can pull it down and run and escape pressure - The offense goes through him, so our No. 1 job this week is to affect the quarterback."
