A Recruiting Update On The Men's Basketball Front
Lamont Paris has South Carolina's men's basketball team sitting at 7-1 and has simultaneously made quarter-zips trendy. Alongside the Q-Zip, the Gamecocks are trending in the right direction with recruits. Five-star 2025 small forward Jamier Jones from Orlando, FL, a 6-foot-6 forward, has spoken highly of the Gamecocks to the national media. He plans to take an official visit to the Gamecocks and talks to Coach Lamont every week. The Gamecocks are one of three teams heavily in the mix for Jamier, with LSU and Providence also capturing his interest.
Another player South Carolina is in good standing with is 2025 four-star PF Sadiq White. He spoke positively about South Carolina to the media and enjoyed his visit. The Gamecocks are among the three teams in the mix for him, with NC State and Syracuse being the other two.
South Carolina’s 2025 point guard commit, Eli Ellis, has been playing at an elite level. As mentioned in a recent story on the website, Eli put up 35 points, 13 rebounds, and 5+ assists in front of Lamont Paris, combining for 69 points with his teammate Don Lewis. He has also competed with the Overtime group, winning the King of the Court Challenge and being named Lighthouse Classic MVP last weekend.
Eli is also putting in recruiting work. A few weeks ago, he made it clear that his top recruiting target to the game was the No.1 player in the nation for the 2025 class, AJ Dybantsa. The five-star player for Prolific Prep earned an offer from the Gamecocks on November 4th, with his latest offer coming from Kentucky. Currently, Southern California is the only school he has visited. So, we are still waiting to see if the Gamecocks will be considered a real contender or not, considering the connection of Eli Ellis. It's worth mentioning that Eli has been putting in work both on and off the court recently.
