Michael Smith Touted as a Top Performer at Under Armour All-America Camp
Under Armor's 2023 Next Series began this Sunday, making its first stop at Carrolton High School in Georgia. The series will travel all over the country, giving the spotlight to the many ultra-talented high school football players in the classes of 2024, 2025, and 2026.
The "Atlanta" stop in Under Armor's series boasted well over 100 elite prospects trying to prove why they are the best player in their position and class. Though many prominent athletes participated in the event and had excellent performers, perhaps none were as good as South Carolina's commit Michael Smith, who was touted as a top performer at the event.
Smith, the Gamecocks 2024 TE commit, has been considered a fast riser amongst many in the college football community for some time now, but his recent performance Sunday is further proof. Smith separated himself from the rest of the TEs at the event, particularly during the one on one portion. Smith frequently beat defenders and was always open.
Smith's route running was a constant point of praise for the young tight end. His short area quickness was an area that impressed many people present at the camp. Many scouts were also galvanized by Smith's ability to haul in nearly every pass thrown in his vicinity. Smith is currently listed as the seventh-best tight end in the class of 2024, though many expect him to rise the ranks as we get closer to his graduation.
