Ryan Montgomery Includes Gamecocks In Top 5
When it comes to major college football recruiting, there's one crucial objective that every program wants to accomplish every cycle: sign a quarterback who could eventually start for your program. That objective is even more critical in the SEC, where almost everyone has at least one quarterback on their roster that was considered one of the best prospects in the country in their class.
South Carolina has already accomplished that goal pertaining to the 2024 and 2026 classes with the commitments of Dante Reno and Landon Duckworth. This has allowed Shane Beamer and Dowell Loggains to focus more on the 2025 class, where multiple targets stick out on their board, including four-star quarterback Ryan Montgomery.
Montgomery received an offer from the Gamecocks back on May 25th, has taken two visits to Columbia this year, and plans to make a return trip for the Florida game on October 14th. It's clear that there's mutual interest between Ryan and South Carolina, and the Ohio native indicated this on Tuesday when he included the Gamecocks in his top five.
Out of the remaining finalists, Michigan seems to be the biggest competition for South Carolina, as according to Ryan's On3 recruiting profile, he's visited Ann Arbor nine times to this point in his recruitment. If Dowell Loggains can achieve high levels of success with Spencer Rattler in 2023, it could become a great selling point for the Gamecocks in Ryan's recruitment.
